Today on twitter I received an unsolicited tweet from a new follower that said, @quickreply BTW…Nice blog

Needless to say I was mortified!!

I politely thanked @ShowerThinker but felt the need to justify the obvious neglect of my blog.

And then it dawned on me – although neglected, maybe it IS a nice blog. After all, this isn’t the first time someone complimented me on it.

Totally aware that I am my own worse critic, and working on being a better friend to myself, I decided to stop beating myself up for not keeping up with my blog and start doing what needs to be done – Stop complaining, Stop worrying, Stop over thinking, Stop Stop Stop and TAKE ACTION!

Easier said then done! What I do know all too well, is what needs to be done to succeed online. Unfortunately, I’m constantly fighting the forces of poor time management and procrastination followed by the self loathing for not being productive.

What’s so frustrating for me is that I know with out a shadow of a doubt that I’m here for a divine purpose to share my talents and gifts in a really BIG way.

And so in closing I remind myself:

“Knowing is not enough we must apply
Willing is not enough we must do”
~Bruce Lee

Six days into 2009 and I’m not proud of the fact that it’s taken me this long to make a New Years post to my blog. It’s obvious from my past entries that consistency with posting to this blog is not my strong suit.

I’m also still milking the holiday spirit and finding it a wee bit difficult getting back into the business routine.

Looking back at 2008, all I can say is that it was one of my toughest years in a long time. And while I had plenty of struggles and life lessons slap me upside my head, I finished the year with my head still above water. And for that I’m grateful!!

Now for 2009 . . . New Year, New game plan! I’m going straight to the source, to learn from the Best, the skills I need to take control of my life.

Since I haven’t officially started any training for 2009 yet, I’m going to hold off on naming names and the journey I’m about to embark on. However, do come back as I have every intention of sharing with you every step of this life changing process.

Are you guilty of putting off your work for later, only to find your deadlines steadily creeping up on you or even past due? Then you and I, my friend, are just like millions of other people who are afflicted by that nasty bug known as procrastination.

Procrastination is for me, the biggest reason for loss of productivity, increased stress, and sometimes late output. And as simple as it may sound, I know intellectually, if I just started my work on time, productivity would rise, deadlines would be met and I’d be less stressed in the long run.

Yet, since I started working from home I have found that putting off what needs to be done (business wise), has become more of a problem than I’d like to admit. While I know a lot of it is a psychological game, when I’m mentally off, it’s just too damn difficult to focus on my priorities and I end up doing everything else (even the most dreaded chores) other than what I’m suppose to.

If you’re at all like me, and you desire to shake off your inclination to procrastinate, then you have come to the right place. Here are a few tips to help you leave procrastination behind and become a more productive and reliable person.

1. Set Attainable Goals – It is very important that you have a list of goals that you want to accomplish every day. Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals are important to track your progress and see your growth. Beside the wonderful feeling of accomplishment every time you attain a goal or cross an item off your to do list, writing down your long and short term goals will help keep you focused.

2. Schedule Your Time – In conjunction with setting goals, allow yourself a set amount of “uninterrupted” time to complete a task. This will help you realistically budget your time and resources. The biggest mistake people make with regard to time management is that they don’t have any set plans for how their time will be spent. While a journal, organizer, or calendar of events will help you plan and schedule your tasks, a digital timer will help you committed to the designated uninterrupted time you allowed for each task.

3. Just Do It – If we all agree that there is no magic wand to wave and that if we don’t put forth the effort to complete the task at hand it will never get done, why do we insist on putting it off? If it’s on your goals for the day and time is scheduled for the completion of the task, stick to what you set out to do for the day and stay committed. There will be plenty of time for fun later.

4. Stay Focused – Before you start working for the day, eliminate all possible distractions such as shutting off your phone, closing your email, feeding your hunger, using the bathroom, letting the dog out and anything else that could possibly be a distraction once you get settled in to work. If you can stay focused during the “uninterrupted” time you scheduled for each task you’ll immediately see your productivity skyrocket.

Practice these four simple tasks and let me know how it works out. I myself plan on putting what I know about time management to use on a more consistent basis and keeping you updated with my progress.

Its been over a month since my last post and during that time I have often thought about posting, started to post, and even wrote it down as a goal for the day. Yet as you can see, my blog hasn’t been updated in a while and nothing new has been posted.

So what is it that’s been holding me back?

A question I often ask myself and a question that I believe, MUST be answered and must be answered HONESTLY – if I ever want to attain my goals.

The way I see it, working from home and making money online is very possible and can be very profitable. Just be careful about how you approach it and don’t expect it to make you a millionaire over night.

In the last 10 months since turning to the internet to make money online, here are the Top 10 Difficulties I’ve discovered about myself and working from home.

1. I’m easily distracted.

2. I procrastinate.

3. I multi task to the point of being inefficient and unproductive.

4. I have too many ideas and take on too many projects.

5. I suffer from information overload and paralysis by analysis.

6. I lack direction and left to my own devices flounder.

7. I’m trying to do it all.

8. I’m not consistent.

9. I do not get a lot of offline support.

10. I’m too anal and need to let go.

So the question is “Do I continue to do what obviously isn’t working?”

Of course not, that would be insane.

With only 100 days left before the end of 2008 I have some serious work to do. I invite you to please join me over the next 100 days as I either eliminate that what isn’t working or turn it into a positive and productive action step. For I plan to close out 2008 with a BANG!

Peace and Prosperity!
